Amata Forgoes Congressional District Work Period Trip Home In Order To Address Our Local Issues In D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Aumua Amata today announced that she will remain in the Nation's Capital during the District Work Period (DWP) of the U.S. House in order to address our local issues, meet with Governor Moliga and his delegation who will be in Washington for the National Governors’ Conference.

"One of the best times I look forward to, is spending time at home with our people whenever possible, to find out first hand what's happening on the island and to bring our people up to speed on what I'm doing for them in Congress,” said Congresswoman Aumua Amata.  Due to the importance of keeping in touch with constituents, Congress sets aside time during the legislative calendar to allow the Representatives to travel home, so that they may better serve those they represent.  The next DWP is scheduled for February 13th - 23rd.

“While I regret that I won’t be traveling home for this District Work Period, I look forward to meeting with Governor Moliga while he is in Washington so that we can begin our collaborative efforts on behalf of the American Samoan people,” concluded Congresswoman Aumua Amata.
