It was a normal Tuesday morning as I, along with my co-workers, settled in to work on the Hill, in Washington, DC. Then suddenly our world changed forever at 8:46 a.m., on September 11, 2001. The first plane had just hit the north tower of the World Trade Center. The second plane was to follow at 9:03.

First and foremost, I want to offer my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to the families of Lydia Fataua and Klement Pua'auli. As a mother and grandmother, I cannot imagine the pain and grief that parents must suffer when standing by helplessly while a child slips away to be with the Lord. A parent outliving their child is heartbreaking beyond comprehension.
