Congresswoman Amata visited Yale University a few days ago, warmly hosted by American Samoa’s college students there and the Chen family at Yale’s historic campus, during their Pasifika Festival celebrating the people and culture of the Pacific Islands. “Fa’afetai especially to my friend Angela Chen of American Samoa for inviting me. She is soon to graduate from Yale, and making us proud, along with her brother Victor, an Air Force officer and an Air Force Academy graduate, and their sister Amelie, who was on hand for the Festival from Harvard where she currently studies.

Congresswoman Amata welcomed several dignitaries from the Republic of the Marshall Islands in her office Wednesday for a meeting discussing implementation of the Compacts of Free Association, including U.S.-Marshallese relations, and services to U.S. Veterans in the Pacific. The RMI delegation presented a traditional handcrafted seashell necklace from the Marshall Islands.
