Aumua Announces $250,000 Grant Award for Healthcare in AS

Washington, D.C. –Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced earlier today, that the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Grant Service Office has issued $250,000 in discretionary funds to the American Samoa Department of Health as part of the Pacific Basin Program.

“I am pleased to relay this information to our local government and people. Our islands’ healthcare system is in need of many improvements, and every bit of funding helps. There is so much more that needs to be done, and I will continue to work towards health equity and building a healthier community.” said Amata.

The purpose of HRSA funding is to improve access to quality health care and services and strengthen the health workforce. American Samoa Department of Health will be able to use these discretionary funds as needed to improve our islands Healthcare System.

“I want to thank our local officials including Project Director, Easter Bruce, for their leadership and hard work in obtaining this important funding for our islands. I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress, and the Administration to increase funding for local health care resources and improve our overall quality of life.” concluded Amata.
