Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata honored the accomplished life of former Governor Pedro "Teno" Pangelinan Tenorio, who led a life of public service to the people of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is pleased to announce the winners of the Malofie Congressional Art Competition. This year's first-place winner is Samoana High School's Katie Godinet with her artwork entitled "My Traditional Wear." The second-place winner is Da In Myung of South Pacific Academy with her artwork entitled "My Flag—My American Samoa." Third-place honors were earned by Trish Buenavista of Fa'asao Marist High School with her artwork entitled "New Culture."
Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata congratulated the American Samoa Society upon winning the national Roc C. Haines Award as the Outstanding State or Territorial Society of the Year within the National Conference of State and Territorial Societies (NCSS). The prestigious award was announced in Washington, D.C., at the Cherry Blossom Grand Ball, the leading event of the 2017-2018 year.
Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata honored the remarkable life of former First Lady Barbara Bush, only the second in history along with Abigail Adams to be both the wife and mother of Presidents of the United States. Mrs. Bush passed away late Tuesday at 92 but leaves a rich legacy that includes a dedication to her country, her family, and promoting reading.

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata introduced a bill that would give U.S. Nationals from American Samoa a much more affordable and streamlined process if they choose to convert their National status to full U.S. citizenship.
First and foremost, residents in American Samoa would no longer have to move off island to become citizens. Secondly, they would no longer have to take the citizenship test. Finally, they would be eligible for a hardship waiver of the application fee.
