Washington, DC –Thursday,Congresswoman Aumua Amata, was pleased to announce the awarding of $380,447 in maintenance assistance funding from the Department of the Interior, Office of Insular Affairs. The funding will be used for three initiatives to improve power utilities and provide technical training and education in the Pacific Insular region including American Samoa.

Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, and the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations (O&I) held a hearing today entitled “Examining Decades of Data Manipulation at the United States Geological Survey” during which they interviewed U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Deputy Director William Werkheiser on several incidents of scientific misconduct at the Energy Resources Program (ERP) Geochemistry Laboratory in Lakewood, Colorado.

Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded a Public Assistance (PA), Category F grant in the amount of $2,483,254.80 to the American Samoa Power Authority for Earthquake, Tsunami, and Flooding assistance stemming from the 2009 Earthquake / Tsunami. This grant is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
