Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata highlighted several federal grant notifications this week that support local government services and organizations. In combination, the four grants from 2023 Appropriations total about $1.3 million for various efforts in American Samoa.
The four grants are as follows:

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming notice of a grant of $159,948 from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs to the American Samoa Criminal Justice Planning Agency. Congress funded the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) for State Prisoners Program and subsequent grants for the year through the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2023.
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming notice of several grants from the Office of Insular Affairs’ Maintenance Assistance Program (MAP).
In a letter received Tuesday from Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs Carmen G. Cantor to Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga and Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata, the OIA announced just over $750,000 ($750,280) in three MAP grants.
