Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is highlighting final House passage of multi-year reauthorization of the United States Coast Guard, which passed the House Wednesday as part of the immense 3,000-page National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Among numerous priorities, the bill includes congressional directions to conduct a homeport analysis, continue to build out the cutter fleet, and strengthen USCG Pacific presence.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is honoring the anniversary of the United States Navy’s founding in 1775, when the Continental Navy was established the year before the Declaration of Independence. The milestone will be marked with a major celebration in Philadelphia, including a parade, flyovers, fireworks, concerts, and the presence of numerous Navy and historic ships on the river. This year’s Navy birthday coincides with a federal holiday, as Columbus Day 2025 is also on October 13th.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is hailing the pay raise for the military in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025, passed Wednesday by the House with a vote of 231-196. The House voted to raise pay for U.S. Service Members by 3.8 percent next year, building on this year’s pay raise.

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is celebrating the 235th birthday of the United States Coast Guard. On August 4th, 1790, President George Washington signed a bill passed by Congress that authorized ten revenue cutters, initially under Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton to enforce tariff laws and prevent smuggling, and their mission has grown over the years, now protecting many thousands of miles of coastal waters.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata welcomes bipartisan passage in the U.S. House of Representatives last week of major legislation to strengthen, support, and authorize funding through the end of fiscal year 2029 for the United States Coast Guard and all its critical missions that safeguard the nation’s borders, facilitate maritime commerce, ensure maritime safety, prevent illegal drug trafficking, and reduce illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing on the high seas.
