Pago Pago—This week, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Saipan in honor of Veterans and this significant event in Pacific history. This important strategic battle began on June 13 with a bombardment and a landing on June 15. US forces captured the airfield on June 18 and went on to victory at the enormous cost of 29,000 US casualties.

Pago Pago – This week, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is commemorating World War II anniversaries of D-Day and the Battle of Midway in the Pacific. June 6 marks the major 75th anniversary of D-Day, so World War II allied nations across the world are pausing to remember. Also, this week (June 4-7) is the 77th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, a turning point for the war in the Pacific two years before D-Day.

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata announced she is an original cosponsor of a new bill this week to expand Pacific Veterans healthcare introduced by a bipartisan group of five Representatives

Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed House passage of a slate of Veterans bills, including several she cosponsored, and took part in a Committee hearing on the ongoing problem and national tragedy of Veteran suicides.
The House passed three Amata-cosponsored bills: The Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act, H.R. 1200; The Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer William Bill Mulder (Ret.) Transition Improvement Act, H.R. 2326; and the Support for Suicide Prevention Coordinators Act, H.R. 2333.
