This important strategic battle began on June 13 with a bombardment and a landing on June 15. US forces captured the airfield on June 18 and went on to victory at the enormous cost of 29,000 US casualties.

June 6 marks the major 75th anniversary of D-Day, so World War II allied nations across the world are pausing to remember. Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed House passage of a slate of Veterans bills, including several she cosponsored, and took part in a Committee hearing on the ongoing problem and national tragedy of Veteran suicides.
The House passed three Amata-cosponsored bills: The Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act, H.R. 1200; The Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer William Bill Mulder (Ret.) Transition Improvement Act, H.R. 2326; and the Support for Suicide Prevention Coordinators Act, H.R. 2333.
