Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata welcomed House passage Thursday of the Alexander Lofgren Veterans in Parks (VIP) Act, H.R. 4300, which she cosponsored to thank and honor Veterans.
In national appreciation of their service and sacrifice, the legislation provides free lifetime access to all U.S. National Parks, and other National Forests and public lands for the nation's servicemembers, veterans, and Gold Star families.

Washington, D.C.- Thursday, Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata is a cosponsor of bipartisan legislation that honors Veterans with free lifetime access to all U.S. National Parks. The Veterans in Parks (VIP) Act is a bipartisan bill that honors the nation's service members, veterans, and Gold Star families as VIPs in National Parks and other public lands. The bill is led by Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) and Ruben Gallego (D-AZ).

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata hailed a notice from Honolulu VA Regional Director Sergio S. Chao that the Department of Veterans' Affairs will place a permanent Veterans Benefits Counselor in American Samoa to assist Veterans.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata said her American Samoa congressional office has a fellowship opening for a wounded warrior or medically retired veteran.
The person chosen for the special fellowship will work directly with military and veteran constituents to handle veterans-related casework, and act as a facilitator between Veteran constituents and federal agencies.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata is welcoming House passage of the bipartisan VA Police Improvement and Accountability Act (H.R. 2429), legislation introduced by Rep. Kathleen Rice (NY-04) and co-led by Rep. Aumua Amata Radewagen (American Samoa). The bill, which requires body cameras and strengthens oversight and accountability for the Department of Veterans Affairs' police operations, passed the House unanimously.

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata is an original cosponsor of legislation supporting establishment of a new committee of Veterans from throughout the five U.S. Territories and the three Freely Associated States to better advise the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) on Veterans' issues affecting the insular areas.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata took part in a Tuesday hearing focused on next year's budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), in which VA Secretary Denis McDonough testified. In his answer to Congresswoman Amata's question, the Secretary testified on the reason the VA is preparing for a surge in health care cases. Since the U.S. population, in general, is believed to have postponed some 40 percent of doctor and other health visits during Covid-19, the VA anticipates similar percentages among Veterans.

Matsunaga Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) Medical Center associated with Tripler Army Medical Center that serves so many Veterans from American Samoa.
