Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata announced she will be Vice Ranking Member for the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs (HVAC), and will serve once again on two key Veterans subcommittees for the 117th Congress — the Health Subcommittee and the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata welcomed the swearing in of the 11th United States Secretary of Veterans' Affairs (VA) Denis McDonough, and highlighted the importance of VA issues to Veterans.

Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata is hailing the signing into law of a bipartisan effort, which included U.S. Senators Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and John Boozman, R-Ark., and U.S. Representatives Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., Colin Allred, D-Texas, and Amata Coleman Radewagen, R-American Samoa. Together, they announced that their bipartisan legislation to let Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) work study students work in congressional offices was included in the veterans legislative package signed into law on January 5.
Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata welcomed House passage of S. 2216, supporting family members who care for Veterans. Congresswoman Amata is an original cosponsor of the same provisions in a related House bill.
The House of Representatives unanimously passed the Senate version of the VA caregiver support bill, entitled the TEAM Veterans Caregiver Act. Congresswoman Amata supported the House version, also titled the TEAM Veterans Caregiver Act, H.R. 6571, from day one of its introduction early this year.

Washington, D.C. – Sunday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata commemorated National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day (Dec. 7, 1941), and released the following statement:
"Each year, on a day between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Pearl Harbor Day is a reminder of the sacrifices of the World War II generation that gave us so much. We have lived all these years in freedom because of their commitment.

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata thanked retiring Ranking Member Dr. Phil Roe in his final hearing of the full Committee on Veterans' Affairs (HVAC), as the Committee's hearing included work on legislation he sponsored. Dr. Roe has served 12 years with dedication in Congress, in addition to his service in the Army and as a physician.
"I too want to add my gratitude to Dr. Roe, for your service, your leadership, and you've been like a mentor to me," said Congresswoman Amata, before proceeding to the legislative topic.
Pago Pago – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata released the following statement in honor of Veterans Day 2020:
"Our Veterans are a source of strength, leadership, and wise counsel throughout our community. God bless our Veterans and their families on this Veterans Day. It's been a year of unexpected events, but we can rely on our Veterans, and if any are in need, we must make sure they can rely on us.

Pago Pago – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata highlighted the PREVENTS pledge to REACH out to Veterans as part of the national initiative to prevent Veterans' suicides.
"National Suicide Prevention Month has ended, but our work and commitment to our Veterans is only beginning," said Aumua Amata. "The pledge is a reminder of this responsibility to the Veterans in our lives."
