Amata Announces $6.2M Grant Award for Airport Parking Lot Construction

Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has awarded a grant in the amount of $6,200,000 to the Government of American Samoa for the construction of a parking lot at Pago Pago International Airport.

Specifically, the funds will be used to construct a parking facility for the use of patrons at Pago Pago International Airport.

“A parking lot may seem minimal in importance, but every upgrade made to our local transportation infrastructure improves the economic stability of the islands. I want to thank those officials at the U.S. Department of Transportation for issuing these funds, as well as Taimalelagi Dr. Claire Poumele and her staff for their hard work to secure these important dollars for American Samoa,” stated Amata.
