Amata Begins District Work Period
Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata arrived late Monday evening to begin her three week congressional district work period.

On her way to American Samoa, Amata attended the Pacific Women's Indigenous Network conference in Hawaii where she delivered keynote remarks regarding the future of women in leadership positions across the Pacific and what needs to be done to make sure that more women are being included in the process.
During her time back home, Amata will visit Manu'a, hold town hall meetings in the eastern and western districts, where she will discuss her legislative program. Amata will also be speaking to various local community organizations to hear their concerns and hopes for the islands.
Amata will also be participating in the Flag Day festivities, including hosting the Congressional District Art Competition, where the winner will have their piece shown in the U.S. capitol building for a year and also be eligible for a scholarship.
"I am always happiest when I'm back home on our islands," said Amata. "It is here that I feel most comfortable and I am enthusiastic about getting to hear from our people. I value their opinion and it helps me do my job better," stated Amata.
