Amata Celebrates NASA’s 64th Birthday
Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata released the following statement recognizing and celebrating President Eisenhower’s signing of the National Aeronautics and Space Act, and the creation of the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA):

(NASA) Astronauts welcomed to American Samoa after an Apollo mission.
“On July 29, we celebrate the 64th birthday of NASA, which was established in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. We all know the pride our people still feel after seeing the astronauts from Apollo 14 and several previous Apollo missions on American Samoa’s soil, as our island became the first land they touched following splashdown. NASA has left an indelible mark on the world and furthers our understanding of everything around us. It is also an undeniable part of President Eisenhower’s legacy, which also includes the bold step of entrusting local leadership to the people of the Pacific themselves, including American Samoa. Happy Birthday NASA, we look forward to all the continued amazing advancements you will make.”
