Amata Congratulates Alosina Seumanu Upon US Naval Academy Acceptance

May 10, 2023

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Aumua Amata is delighted to announce that Alosina Lorna Maria Seumanu has been accepted for admittance to the U.S. Naval Academy.

“I’m so happy to congratulate Alosina Lorna Maria Seumanu, and announce this wonderful news,” said Congresswoman Amata. “She now has a fully qualified appointment to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, and this is a much-deserved achievement. As always, this represents a lot of hard work, studies, and commitment. A special thank you to her family, and congratulations to Manumalo Baptist Academy and her past teachers.”

Alosina maintained excellent grades throughout all of her schooling in American Samoa, then continued her studies at the US Naval Academy Prep School. The Service Academies require high test scores, and in addition to academic qualifications, those offered an appointment must also demonstrate extracurricular activities, volunteering or other roles showing leadership and motivation, which she has done.

Congresswoman Amata was very happy to nominate Alosina recently among a group of 11 students who sent in 17 total Service Academy applications from American Samoa, and Alosina is the first acceptance from this group of nominees.
