Amata Congratulates Fa’alagiga Nina Tuā’au-Glaudé on VA Advisory Position
Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata, Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, is welcoming the appointment of Air Force Veteran Fa’alagiga Nina Tuā’au-Glaudé to her new position advising the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on behalf of local and Pacific region Veterans. Vice Chairman Amata helped co-lead the legislation creating this position, H.R. 3730, as an original cosponsor with Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan (D-CNMI), and their legislative priority last year is now going into effect.
Fa’alagiga Nina Tuā’au-Glaudé will represent American Samoa on the Advisory Committee on U.S. Outlying Areas and Freely Associated States, the Department of Veterans Affairs has announced.
“Congratulations to Fa’alagiga Nina Tuā’au-Glaudé for this opportunity to help serve our wonderful community of veterans, and I know she’ll do a great job for them,” said Vice Chairman Amata. “Our bill was included as Section 5102 in last year’s National Defense Authorization Act, and I’m thrilled to see the VA implement this new advisory capacity to give our Pacific veterans new voices at the VA. As Chairman of the Women Veterans Task Force, and having heard testimony from women veterans throughout this year, I am pleased women veterans are among those selected to this new advisory board. I want to especially thank my friend Congressman Sablan, and congratulate him as this legislative success goes into action.
“We hope to see improved services for veterans in the Pacific through this change, and better listening from the VA at the highest levels to our honored veterans in the islands,” Amata concluded. “Congratulations again to Fa’alagiga Nina Tuā’au-Glaudé, thank you first of all for your service, and for taking on this advisory capacity.”
