"Congratulations to the United States Army Reserve on this milestone. For 110 years, members of the U.S. Army Reserve have served our great country with distinction. Over those years, the role of the U.S. Army Reserve has greatly grown and its mission expanded. Today, it is a vital part of our nation's Defense strategy, numbering 200,000 strong and ready to respond whenever the nation calls.

"In American Samoa, we take pride in the fact that our Army enlistment rate is the highest in the country, along with large numbers of our own also proudly serving in the U.S. Navy, Marines and Air Force. Here in American Samoa, several hundred of our finest wear the uniform in the U.S. Army Reserve. They train, prepare and learn with dedication in many ways, while both serving the country as soldiers and leading lives as residents of the community. They are professional assets to our military, and a strength of our Territory.

"The entire free world depends on the patriotic service of our military. We thank every member of our Armed Forces, and likewise every Veteran. Today, we specifically celebrate the U.S. Army Reserve and its essential role. Rest assured, in American Samoa, we continue to raise up more of the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen that our country will look to in the future. May God continue to bless our brave men and women in uniform."
