Amata Highlights Census Day 2020
Washington, D.C.—Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is highlighting Census Day 2020, and reminding everyone currently residing in American Samoa of the importance of being counted.

"Right now, the worldwide effort against coronavirus is uppermost in all our minds, as it should be, but the Census is moving forward and still very important," said Aumua Amata. "Please take a little pride in being counted, because the fact is, you're doing it for American Samoa. The U.S. will rely on this count for ten years, and our services and resources depend on this count."
April 1, 2020, was designated Census Day and is a means of continuing to get the word out to people to participate in the effort.

"We all need to be included in the count, and do our part," she continued. "The purpose of the Census is to establish how many people are here. I appreciated that the Census has done educational outreach to the Pacific region to help ensure that islanders are all counted."

The Census has a Public Service Announcement (PSA) video/audio reminder for Pacific Islanders and the Pacific region with the aid of spokespeople, including professional football player Marcus Mariota.
