“In honor of Armed Forces Day and National Military Appreciation Month, we send our profound gratitude to each one of our all-volunteer military, especially our own from American Samoa. We are proud to know that Service Members from American Samoa is part of every branch of the Armed Forces. Whether serving as an officer or enlisted, active or in the Reserves, all of you have chosen to serve the cause of freedom. Each one, along with our military families, makes sacrifices to be stationed wherever serves the national interest. Thank you. We have you in our thoughts, and may the Lord bless and keep you as you serve.”

Armed Forces Day, the third Saturday of May, is a single day when the nation can thank all those currently serving, although each branch of the military continues to honor its own yearly day as well. Armed Forces Day has been a tradition since its creation under President Harry Truman and completes Armed Forces Week.
