Amata Issues Statement on Price Appointment to HHS Secretary

Washington, DC –Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, issued the following statement after President-elect Donald Trump announced the nomination of Rep. Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) for the position of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary.

“President-elect Trump's selection of my friend and colleague, Dr. Tom Price, is welcome news to Americans concerned with the sharply rising cost of healthcare. As Chairman of the Small Business Subcommittee on Health and Technology, I am happy to know that we will be working with a Secretary of HHS who has experience as both a medical professional and as chairman of the House Budget Committee. With the desperately needed improvements regarding healthcare services in American Samoa, I look forward to working with Dr. Price whose expertise will be a great asset to the administration,” stated Amata.
