Amata Reflects on the First 100 Days of the 114th Congress

Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, "The first 100 days have been a whirlwind of getting organized, learning the ropes and putting our noses to the grindstone," said Amata. "The learning curve is steep and if you don't hit the ground running, you will find yourself left behind," continued Amata.

"I could not be more proud to be a Member of the 114th Congress," said Amata. "As a freshman Member who has already passed a bill, introduced others, participated in vital hearings to address the administration's proposals on issues ranging from funding for American Samoa to the designation of ‘national monuments', intervening in labor negotiations, and been assigned to two Subcommittee leadership positions; I am eager to continue the work we have started. We have accomplished a great deal in a short period of time, but so much more needs to be done," concluded Amata.

April 16^th marked the 100^th day of the 114^th Congress. During that short period of time, the House of Representatives has passed dozens of bills to increase tax freedom, move closer to North American Energy independence, grow small businesses, fight human trafficking, support our veterans, and more.

The first 100 days of the 114th Congress has been one of the most productive starts to a Legislative Session in recent history. In fact, the House has: Passed 62 bills (including Amata's "banking bill", which will eliminate the excessive 30 day hold on off island checks), which is more than double the 25 passed in the first 100 days of the 113th Congress and is twice as many as the 31 passed in the 112th Congress. Of these bills, eight have gone on to pass the Senate, and all eight of those bills have been signed into law.
