Amata’s Statement for Easter
Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata released the following Easter statement:
“It’s a joy to have arrived home in American Samoa just in time for Easter. Thank you to each pastor and congregation in American Samoa, as we take part in services and celebrations all over our islands.
“For Christians, this is a deeply important holiday that is an expression of hope and faith. On this special Sunday, much of the world rejoices together in the risen Savior and the promise of seeing loved ones once again through Christ.
“In recent years, especially with the worldwide events beginning in 2020, we’ve been through a lot. Even as we appreciate getting back to more normal times, we always face challenges, such as new pressures on our fishing-based economy here, and knowledge of wars, injustices and tragedies elsewhere in the news. In John 16:33 Jesus says, ‘In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’
“Happy Easter! May God bless each of you this Resurrection Sunday.”
