Amata’s Statement Honoring the Life of Congressman Elijah Cummings

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata released the following statement honoring the life of Congressman Elijah Cummings of Maryland:

"I was saddened to hear early this morning that Congressman Elijah Cummings had passed away. It was a privilege to know him, and I know he will be deeply missed by all of his colleagues in Congress. Congressman Cummings was dedicated to the causes of civil rights, equality and justice, and leaves a legacy of strong commitment and passionate support for his beliefs. He represented the people of Baltimore, Maryland, since 1996. My condolences to his family and constituents, and all the many Americans who admired and respected him."
