Amata’s Statement for National Day of Prayer
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata released the following statement in honor of the National Day of Prayer:
“The National Day of Prayer is a wonderful way to recognize the blessings of God, remember to be thankful, and look for God’s care in our nation and world. This year’s theme is ‘Exalt the Lord who has established us.’ It is based on Colossians 2:6-7 — ‘As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.’
“Every year, this day of prayer is a good reminder to trust God as there are circumstances beyond our control in the world. Under God, we know we have purpose, and that God is working. To that end, we pray for our people of American Samoa as we go through this time of COVID. We pray for wisdom for our nation’s leadership and decision-makers, including the Supreme Court currently pondering major decisions.
“We especially send love and prayers to so many of our own from American Samoa who serve in the Armed Forces, and give thanks to be part of a great country dedicated to freedom. On this National Day of Prayer, may God bless American Samoa and the United States.”
