“As scholarship award recipients, I know that you all are already dedicated to achieving a higher level of academic excellence and I could not be more proud of each and every one of you. I encourage you to carry on that desire and determination forward as you pursue your higher education,” stated Amata.

The Sisters Alumni of the South Pacific has raised over $600,000 since its inception. The money is used to provide scholarships to young Pacific Islanders who meet the specified criteria. With branches across the globe, including Guam, Hawaii, Germany and California, the Sisters will be coordinating efforts between all members in the coming years to increase their fundraising goals.

During her address during the Sister’s Alumni banquet, the Congresswoman shared with those in attendance her own story of perseverance, the importance of our young Pacific Islanders to get involved in their local communities, and congratulated all of the scholarship recipients on their hard work and dedication to their academic futures.

“I want to thank President Malaea To'omalatai-Coleman, Vice President Tuitogama'atoe Teri Rotter and the other members for allowing me to be here and join in this wonderful event, and thank them and the Sister’s for all of the work they do to help our young people achieve their goals,” concluded Amata.
