During these meetings, U.S. Congressional Members discussed a variety of matters with their EU Parliament counterparts, to include the security of the European continent, Russia’s war on Ukraine, threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party worldwide, trade and technology, and potential areas of cooperation between the United States and the European Union that would strengthen the cause of liberty and democracy. The transatlantic meetings took place in Stockholm, Sweden, giving the American Congressional delegation further opportunity for bilateral discussions with high-level members of the Swedish government in addition to its multi-lateral meetings with EU Parliament members, and discussing support for the admission of the Kingdom of Sweden into NATO.

The delegation was led by Chairman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX-01) with Ranking Member Jim Costa (D-CA-21). In addition to Congresswoman Aumua Amata Coleman Radewagen (American Samoa), the delegation was comprised of Rep. Ed Case (D-HI-01), Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-MI-04), Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY-06), Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL-02), Rep. Ben Kline (R-VA-06), Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN-05), and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA-37).

The Transatlantic Legislators Dialogue is a semi-annual meeting (once a year in Europe and once in the United States) between members of the European Union and bipartisan members of the United States Congress. The TLD was founded on the principle that EU-US relations extend far beyond foreign policy or trade issues and encompass multiple policy fields, such as economic and financial policy, energy and climate policy, data protection and the digital economy, counter-terrorism and cyber security. The United States will host its European Union counterparts on American soil later this year for the second of the semi-annual meetings.
