Amata Welcomes $3.25 Million Pacific Basin Health Grant
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming Thursday’s notice of a Pacific Basin health grant for the American Samoa Department of Health of over $3.25 million for the Health Center program.
“Thank you for the ongoing efforts on this longstanding federal grant program, with special appreciation for Seiuli Elisapeta Ponausuia,” said Congresswoman Aumua Amata. “We’re grateful for our health care professionals, and federal funds have an outsized importance to our island health care needs in helping them provide services.”

The discretionary health services grant for continuing health services, specifically $3,252,225, is through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) for Health Centers.
“Thank you to HHS Secretary Xavier Becarra and HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson, and congratulations to Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga, Lt. Governor La'apui E.V. Ale, and Director Motusa Nua,” concluded Amata.
