Amata Welcomes HHS/CDC Grant

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata welcomed a health grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This discretionary block grant of $82,132 to the American Samoa Department of Health is for preventive health and health services.

"Congratulations to everyone at the Health Department and Director Motusa Nua for this health grant," said Congresswoman Amata. "Health care funds are always a welcome development, and thank you to HHS along with the local effort to procure this grant."

HHS is led by Secretary Xavier Becarra, and CDC by Dr. Rochelle Walensky.
