Amata Welcomes Senate Confirmation of Transportation Secretary Duffy
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming the Senate confirmation and swearing-in on Tuesday of another friend and former colleague for the key administration role of Secretary of Transportation, former Congressman Sean Duffy.

“This is a major Cabinet position that affects American Samoa with decisions regarding highways, bridges, ports, airports and air travel,” said Congresswoman Aumua Amata. “In addition to the direct responsibilities of the overall Department of Transportation (DOT), Secretary Duffy leads agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Federal Highway Administration, and Maritime Administration (MARAD).”
“Secretary Duffy is one of a number of friends and congressional colleagues serving in the administration, which is helpful to our working relationship with various departments and agencies,” continued Amata. “Secretary Duffy is a person of faith, known as a committed Catholic, and a few years ago when one of his children needed care, he stepped away from Congress and put his family ahead of his career. I look forward to working with him on our transportation and infrastructure.”
In Congress, Secretary Duffy served on the House Financial Services Committee, and as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance. In addition, he has served as a District Attorney in Wisconsin, and he is well-known to television audiences in America, including as a co-host of a Fox Business Network program.
