Aumua Announces $2.3 Million Grant
Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced that U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) has awarded a $2.3 million dollar grant for American Samoa's Head Start Program.

"I am delighted that USDOE has committed these funds as this program has done wonders in getting our kids started for school," stated Amata. It is crucial that we do all we can to prepare our young people for the future through their education, and these funds will help to further that mission," continued Amata.
Now in its' third year, the American Samoa Head Start program promotes the school readiness of young children from low-income families through agencies in their local community. Both Head Start and Early Head Start programs offer a variety of service models, depending on the needs of the local community. Programs may be based in centers, schools, or family child care homes.
"I would like to thank the officials at the USDOE who approved this critical funding for our young people who are just beginning their academic endeavors and Milaneta Tinitali of the American Samoa Department of Education (ASDOE), Early Childhood Division for her hard work that made this grant possible," concluded Amata.
