Aumua Announces $2,300,000 Grant Award for Healthcare in AS

Washington, D.C. –Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced earlier today, that the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)Grant Service Office has issued a grant in the amount of $2,323,609 in discretionary funds to the American Samoa Department of Health as part of the Pacific Basin Program.

“I am pleased to relay this information to our local government and people. Our islands’ healthcare system is in need of many improvements, and every bit helps. This continuation of funding for the American Samoa Department of Health will assist us in building a healthier community,” said Amata.

The purpose of HRSA funding is to improve access to quality health care and services and strengthen the health workforce in local communities.

“I want to thank our local officials at the American Samoa Department of Health, including Project Director, Easter Bruce, for their leadership and hard work in obtaining this important funding for our islands. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the new Congress and with the new Administration to increase funding for local health care resources and improve our overall quality of life.” concluded Amata.
