Aumua Announces $310K plus Grant for LBJ

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Aumua Amata, on Tuesday announced that U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a grant in the amount of $313,599 to the American Samoa Government Department of Health for the LBJ Tropical Medical Center's, Bureau of Primary Health Care program.

"As always, we welcome these funds that will assist our local health officials to perform their duties and assist in the good health of our people," stated Amata. "It is crucial that we utilize every avenue at our disposal to make sure that American Samoa's programs are funded and serving the people as they were meant to," continued Amata.

These discretionary funds will assist LBJ in providing access to high quality, family oriented, and comprehensive primary and preventive health care for people who are low-income, uninsured or face other obstacles to getting health care.

"I want to thank Dr. Saipale Fuimaono for his leadership in securing this important grant for our people. I also want to thank the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for their insight in awarding these funds that will do so much to assist the people of American Samoa," concluded Amata.
