Aumua Announces $97,086 Grant Funding for Highway Safety in American Samoa
Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, "I am pleased to announce a grant award from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) for our islands," said Amata. "These funds will help support local highway safety programs that are essential to maintaining a safe environment on our roads," stated Amata.
The USDOT, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has awarded a grant in the amount of $97,086 in non-discretionary funds to the American Samoa Government, Office of Highway Safety. These funds, given through the State & Community Highway Safety Grants Program, are awarded annually, and will be used to support existing highway safety programs in American Samoa.
"I would like to thank those at the USDOT and our civil servants in the ASG Office of Highway Safety for their hard work and consideration to secure this important funding for our islands. As I have said before, grants are a prime source of funding for vital programs and projects in American Samoa, and we are receiving this funding as a result of those employees and their dedication," concluded Amata.
