Aumua Forming a Women’s Advisory Council

January 28, 2016

Pago Pago –Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced her plan to form a Women’s Advisory Council in American Samoa, so that she can better hear directly from the women leaders on the island regarding their concerns, goals, and objectives for the people of American Samoa.

“I form these councils, so that I can maintain a highly informed status on the happenings in American Samoa, when I am in Washington. Listening to the voice of the people has led to some real positive accomplishments this past year for American Samoa, and I plan on expanding that outreach through these councils,” stated Amata.

All interested candidates are encouraged to contact Konelila Tagoilelagi with the Congresswoman’s District Office in Pago Pago at (684) 633-3601.

The Congresswoman was on her way back to Washington last weekend, following her meeting with the Fono and Governor, but had to turn back due to the historic blizzard in Washington, that closed all three airports in the region for days.

“Fortunately, none of my colleagues could make it back either, so all Congressional activities were canceled for the week. The blizzard also allowed me to get some more work done here on the island before returning to Washington, including the preliminary planning for the Women’s Advisory Council. However, I am eager to get back to work for our people,” said Amata.
