Aumua Introduces Bill to Resolve Lack of Air Service Between Tutuila and Manu’a
Washington, D.C. –Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, introduced a bill this week that will resolve the lack of air service between Tutuila and Manu’a.
“One of the very first issues I addressed after being sworn into office last year was that of the lack of consistent and reliable air service between our islands. I know how hard it is for our people who have to get from island to island for work, or to see family,” said Amata.

Specifically, the bill will amend a section of the U.S. Code that regulates air commerce, to allow for sustainable air commerce between Tutuila and Manu’a.
“By working in conjunction with the U.S. Senate, the Department of the Interior, and the Department of Transportation, I am confident that we will be able to get this bill passed and signed by President Obama, and I want to thank those at DOT, DOI, and specifically, Assistant Secretary of Insular Areas Esther Kia’aina, and U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (AK) for their cooperation and assistance in developing this legislation. By working together, we are able to avoid any unforeseen setbacks, and I look forward to seeing this bill become law, so that it will be much easier for our people to travel between our islands,” stated Amata.
