"While I am saddened to see my friend of more than 20 years, resign from his position as Speaker of the House, and am concerned about the vast wealth of institutional knowledge that Speaker Boehner brought to the table; I am excited about the new outlook in Congress and I look forward to working with Speaker Ryan.

It is time for the divisions within the party to end, and for us to all come together, so that we can move America forward and continue the work that our constituents sent us to Washington to do. I believe that is exactly what will happen with Speaker Ryan; as he has proven himself to be someone who the entire party and Congress for that matter, can rally behind. I am hopeful that the next few years will be extremely productive ones in Congress and that we will keep on working to put our great nation back on the path to prosperity for all Americans.

As the former Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee, Speaker Ryan brings with him a clear and distinct plan to move our nation forward, balance the budget and expand job growth. It is this type of experience and leadership that will serve the American people well and I look forward to seeing our new Speaker lead the way."
