"I am familiar with the 30A tax credit, and the American Samoa Economic Development Tax Credit. Are you aware of any other tax credits specific to the U.S. Territories?" questioned Amata. "Which of these would provide the biggest benefit for the territories?" continued Amata.

The purpose of the hearing was to receive testimony regarding why small firms are labeled as "employers of choice", and to address certain tax policies, including the tax extender debate, which affect the ability of small firms to attract and retain employees.

The panel consisted of three high-level executives, who were at the hearing representing the Small Business Entrepreneurship Council, the Precision Machined Products Association, and the Associated Builders & Contractors, respectively.

"I will continue to work with my colleagues in the committee to ensure the extension of these tax credits that are so essential to the economic well-being of the nation, and even more so to American Samoa in particular," said Amata. "I look forward to Congress passing the extensions and continuing to find ways to enable our small businesses to compete on a global scale," concluded Amata.
