"I am proud to recognize today as the first National Entrepreneurs Day. It is the entrepreneurial spirit that built this great nation. From the very beginning, and even before we gained our independence, people from across the world have come to the United States with the desire and drive to forge their own paths and chart their own destinies. These individuals often left their homes with nothing more than the shirts on their backs, simply so that they could pursue their personal version of the American Dream.
It has always been those multitudes of lone dreamers who made our country the nation it is today. These are the individuals that employ the great majority of our nation's workforce, and I am proud to cosponsor legislation that will recognize the third Tuesday of every November as National Entrepreneurs Day.
Now more than ever, our entrepreneurs need policies that will enable them to grow their businesses, hire more employees, and compete globally. As a member of the House Small Business Committee, I stand with my colleagues and will continue to do all I can to ensure that our entrepreneurs and small business owners are not overwhelmed with burdensome and unnecessary regulations.
As a nation founded on the entrepreneurial spirit I stand today to salute our nation's small business owners and entrepreneurs who continue to make the United States the beacon of prosperity it has always been to the world. Let us continue to foster that spirit".
