Aumua Speaks on Behalf of VET Act Following Passage through House
Washington D.C. –Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, and a few of her colleagues from the House Veterans Affairs Committee spoke to the press regarding the passage of
H.R. 3936, the Veteran Engagement Team Act (VET Act), this afternoon in front of the United States Capitol.

on the Passage of the VET Act
“By getting VA employees out into the field and interacting directly with our veterans, the VA will not only be able to improve the services they provide, and increase their productivity, but they will also be able to get to know the veterans and communities they serve that much better,” said Amata. “By doing this, those VA employees will be able to see directly, how the work they do affects the lives of the veterans they serve,” continued the Congresswoman.
The VET Act, which Congresswoman Amata is an original cosponsor, will begin to tear down the walls between the VA bureaucracy and the constituency they serve, by getting VA employees into the field to help tackle veterans’ claims at various events within the community. By bringing together VA claims representatives, medical providers and veteran service organizations, it will reduce the bureaucratic mess that has created a massive back log and toxic culture.
The VET Act will also help bring greater transparency and efficiency to the VA by putting veterans directly in contact with all personnel needed to process a claim in one place and by helping the veteran on the spot, this legislation will assist in eliminating wait times, miscommunication and lost paperwork that currently troubles the VA claims process.
“I want to thank my colleagues Mr. Costello and Mr. Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania for introducing this legislation. Their efforts to see this bill through the House have been unwavering, and as a cosponsor of the bill I am pleased to see their work come to fruition,” concluded Amata.
