Happy Mother’s Day from Amata
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata released the following statement in celebration of Mother’s Day:
“God bless all of our mothers! A mother’s love is a powerful force for good in this world, and in the lives of her children. ‘Her children rise up and call her blessed,’ (Proverbs 31:28). Thank you for all your years of loving care, hard work, and total support you provide to your family. This weekend is a perfect time to tell your moms how much you love, appreciate, respect and value them, and for some of us, a time for a special memory of a mom that directed us by training, advice, and most of all, her example. (Proverbs 22:6)
Remembering my Grandmother Amataupulevasegaotupu Aumua of Pago Pago, Fagasa and Vatia Villages on this Mother’s Day. A strong Samoan woman, who spoke only Samoan, we loved “Ma” dearly and we all knew her word was law!
Missing my mother on Mother’s Day and everyday. Nora Kawailiula was the kindest, sweetest, most gracious lady, who taught my twelve siblings and me about the importance of family. To me, she will always be the best mother ever. She made by hand this beautiful gown of elei and black velvet.
“May your children bring you a lifetime of joy, as mine have! To each one of you, thank you for all you do, and have a wonderful, happy Mother’s Day!”
