Rep. Amata Statement on Government Funding Extension
Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, issued the following statement regarding the passage of H.R. 5325, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, which provides a 10-week stopgap in government funding.
“As the primary role of congress is to fund government operations, I am pleased that the House and Senate were able to come together and pass this short term extension. I look forward to returning to this issue in December after the elections and ensuring that the government continues to operate smoothly during fiscal year 2017. I know that my colleagues and I will continue to work together, and I am confident that we won’t see any government shutdowns anytime soon.”
The continuing resolution to fund the government until December 9th passed with a 72-26 vote in the Senate and 342-85 in the House. The passage of the bill comes after a week of debates on what specific provisions to include in the must-pass legislation.
