Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed two discretionary federal grants for American Samoa, each through the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Department, for a total of nearly $520,000.
The larger of the two grants will provide $400,000 in social and economic development support in American Samoa through the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), an agency of HHS. The recipient is Empowering Pacific Island Communities, and the title of the grant is the Healthy Amerika Samoa Community Development project.


Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed the advancement of her request for a third straight year of additional funds for American Samoa's operations, as the Senate joined the House in including American Samoa's increase in the appropriations bill for the Interior Department.

This follows last week's vote in the House and sends American Samoa's additional assistance to President Trump to be signed into law.

The hearing was entitled, Sustaining Insular Relationships, and focused on extending the future of U.S.

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed progress for the Small Business Development Centers Improvements Act, H.R. 4406. She cosponsored this legislation, and the Committee on Small Business passed the bill with bipartisan support.

Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed a grant of $661,550 in federal funds for the American Samoa Department of Homeland Security designated to tsunami preparations.
These federal funds through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), an agency within the U.S. Commerce Department, are for the purpose of reducing the impact of tsunamis through hazard assessment, warning guidance, education and preparedness.

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed more than $1 million in federal funds for coral reef conservation in American Samoa over the next two years.
