I am happy to see that the President-elect has chosen Dr. David Shulkin to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Shulkin is currently serving as the Under-Secretary of Health with the Department of Veterans Affairs, and acts at the Chief Executive of the Veterans Health Administration in that role.

Washington, D.C. –Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata, nominated eighteen students to one or more of the service academies. Selection was based on the students overall academic record, essay and letters of recommendations from their teachers, church leaders and local community leaders and verification that they have applied separately to the academy or academies of their choice as only those applicants who have applied to the academies could be nominated if qualified.

The "Ensuring Access to Pacific Fisheries Act" implements the Convention on the Conservation and Management of High Seas Fisheries Resources in the North Pacific Ocean, the Convention on the Conservation and Management of High Seas Fishery Resources in the South Pacific Ocean, and the amendments to the Convention on Future Multilateral Cooperation in the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries.
