Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata welcomedcongressional action Thursday to ensure government funding as the new fiscal year starts, and prevent a temporary government shutdown. The Senate passed the legislation earlier in the day and the House of Representatives then quickly passed the Continuing Resolution (CR). President Biden was expected to sign the legislation as soon as possible preventing any interruption of nonessential government functions starting October 1.

The grant is part of the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness program, which is awarded by the US Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming two grants combining for about $1.75 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and both for the American Samoa Department of Health for separate health projects.

One discretionary grant of just under a million dollars at $997,661 is for the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Homevisiting Grant Program, and due to the local work of Merenaite Liua.
