The Senate passed the legislation earlier in the day and the House of Representatives then quickly passed the Continuing Resolution (CR). President Biden was expected to sign the legislation as soon as possible preventing any interruption of nonessential government functions starting October 1.

Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata is highlighting over $479 million ($479,135,254) in federal funds resulting from this year's legislation known as the American Rescue Plan.
The U.S. Treasury announced this week that the funds from the American Rescue Plan's Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds would be received in a single payment, making up for lost revenue during the pandemic, while other relief funds for localities will also be announced later.

Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata has introduced a bill in the 117th Congress that would enable any U.S. National who wishes to do so to convert to U.S. citizenship through a simplified procedure with the office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The House bill, H.R. 1941, is co-sponsored by the members of the House from the four other U.S. island territories: Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata sent a letter to Senate Natural Resources Committee Chairman Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Ranking Senator Dr. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming), identifying needs and priorities for American Samoa in the major coronavirus and economic relief legislation, which is under consideration, and asking for maximum flexibility in Governor Lemanu's ability to use and apply federal funds for the benefit of American Samoa.

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata took part in the National Prayer Breakfast, her fifth time to participate. The annual bipartisan event has been held since 1953, when President Eisenhower became the first President to attend and bring widespread attention to the event, which has grown to attract 3,000 people in recent years. President Biden spoke this year, and four Members of Congress hosted, one from each party in both the Senate and House: Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), Rep. John Moolenaar (R-MI), and Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY).
