Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is delighted to announce the nominations of six excellent students from American Samoa for consideration by the prestigious military service academies this year, following the applications of 16 interested students to Congresswoman Aumua Amata. Some students applied to more than one academy, so there are nine nominations in all.
Congressional nominations are only possible if the student’s completed application is on file at the Service Academy.
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is highlighting Committee passage of bipartisan legislation, backed by representatives from the territories, to guarantee in-state tuition for students from American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. With the support of Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI), the bill successfully passed the House Education and Workforce Committee this week, advancing toward easing the financial burden faced by territorial students pursuing higher education throughout the country.

Washington, DC – The staff of the D.C. office of Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata enjoyed the opportunity to host American Samoa’s Close Up student delegation on Wednesday for a home-cooked luncheon at the congressional office, and a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol, while Congresswoman Amata is in American Samoa for ASCC and high school graduations.
