Congresswoman Amata was notified that Ben So'otui Schuster has been offered a fully qualified appointment by the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, and that Aitulagi Alofa has been offered a fully qualified appointment by the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Washington, D.C. – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is delighted once again to announce the winners of the Malofie Congressional Art Competition. This year's first-place contestant has the distinction of also being a previous winner. Congratulations to Katie Jewel Godinet from Samoana High School upon her first-place finish. She is the daughter of Katie Godinet of Pago Pago.
The second-place winner is MJ Matulino, son of Maeli and Lusia Maselino of Aua. Third-place honors were earned by Anthony Feala.
Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed a $1 million federal grant to the Close Up Foundation to fund the program in the Insular Areas. Congresswoman Amata and the American Samoa congressional office in Washington, D.C., looks forward to welcoming a Close Up students delegation from American Samoa on their trip to the U.S. Capitol in just a few weeks.
Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata announced nominations of 10 students for consideration by the service academies.
Each year, these select nominations are based on the high quality of the students' academic records, essays, letters of recommendation from their teachers, church leaders and local community leaders, along with the required verification that they have already applied separately to the academy or academies of their choice.
Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed nearly $3.9 million for the Head Start program in American Samoa. These funds are designated to the American Samoa Department of Education for Head Start over the span of a five-year project by the federal Administration for Children and Families (ACF).
Washington, D.C. – Saturday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata was presented with a doctorate of laws by the University of Guam, and gave remarks at the commencement exercises centered on her work in the U.S.
