Taipei – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata as part of a bipartisan Congressional Delegation (CODEL) in Taiwan emphasized the importance of the partnership between the United States and Taiwan, and the mutual interests of peace, trade, and stability in the Pacific region. The delegation visited Taiwan from August 14th through 15th, as a key part of their ongoing travel in Asia.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is welcoming U.S. commitment in the Pacific region signaled by Vice President Kamala Harris’s speech Tuesday to the Pacific Islands Forum. Speaking remotely, Vice President Harris addressed the annual leaders meeting of these nations, which assembled in Suva, Fiji, where Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited earlier in the year. President Biden spoke to the same group last year.

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata recently emphasized several issues of key importance to American Samoa to leadership on the House Foreign Affairs Committee as part of a hearing on Indo-Pacific priorities. Aumua Amata called for strong U.S. commitment to the region, including basing U.S. Coast Guard cutters in American Samoa, while highlighting fishing interests and China’s known strategic activity in the area.
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata was in London on Memorial Day for a special wreath laying at Cambridge American Cemetery, where many U.S. Service Members who fought in World War II are buried. The tour and ceremony at the Cemetery included a wreath on behalf of the U.S. Congress.

Gilcrest.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata took part in a Congressional Delegation (CODEL) as part of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs last week through Memorial Day. Starting in Tunisia, Members of Congress toured the North Africa American Cemetery in Carthage, Tunisia; met with Tunisia Minister of National Defence Imed Memmich, among others; interacted with U.S. military as they were engaged in Exercise Phoenix Express in the Mediterranean Sea; and held meetings at the United States Embassy in Tunis.
