Washington, D.C. – Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata visited Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, where veterans from American Samoa often seek health services that are not available to them through the VA locally in American Samoa.
Washington, D.C. – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed an oversight hearing examining how recent veterans' legislation passed by Congress in August of 2017 is being implemented by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Congresswoman Amata cosponsored the bipartisan Veterans Appeals Improvement and Modernization Act of 2017 to ensure veterans' cases are heard.

Washington, D.C. – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata announced the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program will be considering applications from a wounded warrior or medically retired veteran for a position at her American Samoa office in Pago Pago. To be considered, all applications must be directed to the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program via the USAjobs.gov website.
Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata cosponsored and highlighted a bill unanimously passed by the Natural Resources Committee to expand and improve the Century Conservation Service Corps (21CSC) program. The bill creates more opportunities for veterans, strengthens national parks, encourages outdoor activities, and offers interesting career pathway experiences for youth.
Washington, D.C. – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata highlighted veterans' legislation that passed the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs in the Committee's final votes of 2017. The bill was introduced in early November with the support of Congresswoman Amata as an original cosponsor of the legislative effort, and strengthened by an amendment in markup to better assess health care in U.S. territories, including American Samoa.
