Pago Pago – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata wished the Fijian people a happy and blessed Fiji Day, as this October 10th is the 50th anniversary of Fiji's independence.
Pago Pago – Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed notification of three grants affecting American Samoa from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), including one directly for American Samoa. NOAA is announcing their Coral Reef Conservation funding for 2020, with one grant of about $500,000 specific to American Samoa, and two other efforts that include American Samoa.

Pago Pago – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata highlighted the PREVENTS pledge to REACH out to Veterans as part of the national initiative to prevent Veterans' suicides.
"National Suicide Prevention Month has ended, but our work and commitment to our Veterans is only beginning," said Aumua Amata. "The pledge is a reminder of this responsibility to the Veterans in our lives."

Pago Pago – Thursday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed a grant of $170,963 for American Samoa Community College (ASCC) from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).
"Congratulations to ASCC for this federal funding, and the good work they've done on this project," said Aumua Amata. "These funds will benefit the college's food and agriculture science studies. Thank you to Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and NIFA Acting Director Dr. Parag Chitnis."
Pago Pago – Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata congratulated three local organizations upon federal grant notifications for their youth programs teaching sexual risk avoidance. Together, the three grants total $929,206 for these efforts in American Samoa.

Pago Pago -- Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata welcomed $391,947 in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to the American Samoa Criminal Justice Planning Agency.
BJA, a component of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), helps to make American communities safer by strengthening the nation's criminal justice system through grants, training, technical assistance, and policy development services.

Pago Pago – Friday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming Committee passage this week of her bipartisan small business bill, which she introduced the week before with Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pennsylvania). The Parity for HUBZone Appeals Act (H.R. 8229) directs the Small Business Administration (SBA) to authorize the Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) to hear HUBZone appeals.
